Principles of Publishing Ethics

Introduction:
The Iranian Journal of Blood and Cancer (IJBC) aims to serve as a primary platform for data communication, idea sharing, and information dissemination within the scientific research community. To ensure the highest standards of integrity and quality in our published works, we adhere to a specific code of ethics. We strongly advise all individuals involved in the publication process, including editors, authors, and reviewers, to strictly adhere to the following code of ethics.

1. Authors and Co-authors
Authors:
Authors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these international standards and apply them comprehensively to their work:
By submitting a paper, the authors confirm that the manuscript has been read and approved by all authors and that they all agree to the submission of the manuscript to the journal. We follow the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which states that authorship should be based on four criteria:
1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
3. Final approval of the version to be published.
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of any part of the work.

Accreditation of all authors is required upon submission of the manuscript. Contributors who do not qualify as authors should be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section. Furthermore, authors are advised to strictly adhere to the following code of ethics:
1. Only submit manuscripts that are original works or works associated with them during their tenure.
2. Manuscripts should contain original and new results, data, and ideas that have not been submitted for publication elsewhere.
3. Fabrication of data and results, intellectual property theft, and plagiarism are completely unacceptable.
4. Obtain proper permission from the owner of any information or data obtained from various sources before including it in the manuscript.
5. Properly cite all referenced work and crosscheck references before manuscript submission.
6. Do not engage in any form of promotion to get your work published.
7. Ensure that only authors directly involved in the work are listed as authors.
8. Authors and co-authors are responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy and validity of all results before submission.
9. Any potential conflict of interest should be disclosed to the editor in advance.
10. Authors are bound by the Creative Commons licensing policy of publication.
11. Once an article is accepted for publication, all authors are required to submit the copyright transfer form.

Editors:
We encourage all editors, including chief editors, content editors, section editors, and editorial board members, to familiarize themselves with these international standards and apply them comprehensively to their editorial tasks and procedures.
Editors of the IJBC carry full responsibility for editorial and technical decisions. They should not intervene or comment on any editorial decisions made by other editors regarding a manuscript. Editors are requested to give unbiased consideration to all submitted articles. We aim for rapid publication, so editors are advised to process manuscripts promptly and diligently. The final decision on the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript lies with the editor concerned. If an editor wishes to publish an article, it should be processed by another editor.
Editors should refrain from using any information, data, theories, or interpretations from a submitted manuscript in their own work until that manuscript is in press.

Reviewers:
Reviewers play a significant role in the peer review process of our journal. As a double-blind review journal, reviewers are required to maintain their anonymity throughout the reviewing process.
Reviewers should decline to review any article that they feel is technically unqualified if they cannot complete the review in a timely manner, or if there is a conflict of interest. All submissions should be treated as confidential, and editorial approval may be sought for any advice received from external sources. Reviewers should not pass on articles assigned to them for review to other reviewers without declining the review immediately.
Reviewers, being the foundation of the quality process, should ensure that published articles meet high-quality standards and consist of original work. If a reviewer becomes aware that the article they are reviewing is under consideration in another publication, they should inform the editor. Reviewing an article should be done on a case-by-case basis, considering its worthiness, quality, and originality.

In general, reviewers should consider the following aspects during their review:
1- Structure and adherence to author guidelines
2- Purpose and objectives of the article
3- Transitions and flow within the article
4- Introduction, conclusion, and suggestions provided
5- References provided to support the content
6- Grammar, punctuation, and spelling
7- Plagiarism issues
8- Suitability of the article to the intended audience

The reviewer's comments greatly influence the acceptance or rejection of an article and play a vital role in the peer review process. We kindly request all our reviewers to thoroughly review the articles assigned to them, providing unbiased comments that will enhance the quality of our journals.
